Intra-urban traffic increases year by year - but the number of parking spaces is far from being sufficient. Land prices are rising steadily and in prime locations, investments are preferably made in housing and office units instead of multi-storey car parks.
Many German cities are meeting these challenges and are already investing in modern technologies to guide the traffic to the next available parking space in even better and faster way.

A car park of the city was equipped with comprehensive single space detection.
The system consists of:
- ultrasonic sensors
- controllers
- PC with control technology
- modern LED displays
City of Erfurt
In the outskirts of a district of Erfurt wireless magnetic field sensors were installed to determine the occupancy of the parking lot by counting the incoming and outgoing vehicles.

Wireless magnetic field sensors have been installed in each single parking space to accurately determine the occupancy of the parking lot and transmit it via cloud to the local LED displays.
